Yemen : Houthis Shell Residential Village in Al‑Dhalea, Launch Raids and Abductions in Taiz
Al‑Dhalea — Human rights sources reported that Iran‑backed Houthi militias shelled a residential village in Al‑Dhalea governorate while simultaneously carrying out raids and forced abductions in eastern Taiz, targeting unarmed civilians.
According to the sources, Houthi fighters stationed in the Baher area of Mawiyah district fired artillery toward the village of Al‑Rabat in Al‑Azariq district. One shell landed inside the village cemetery, in what was described as a blatant attack on civilian infrastructure.
The sources stressed that the area contained no military targets or presence, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of the assault, which constitutes a violation of the laws of war.
The shelling coincided with intensified operations by the militia in the same region, including storming homes and abducting residents. Victims were reportedly targeted for refusing or being unable to pay illegal levies imposed by the group.
Rights advocates condemned the attacks as part of a broader pattern of abuses by the Houthis, warning of escalating risks to civilians in contested areas.
