Venomous Snake Attack in Yemen Claims Lives of Four Siblings
Sanaa – four siblings were killed by venomous snake bites while sleeping outdoors in the Abs district of Hajjah Governorate, northern Yemen.
According to local reports, the siblings were resting in the courtyard of their home when they were attacked by highly venomous snakes.
The bites proved fatal within a short time due to the absence of immediate medical intervention.
The area where the incident occurred is known for its dense vegetation and stagnant water—conditions that provide an ideal habitat for snakes, especially during their mating season when their movement becomes more aggressive and unpredictable.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying and expressed deep sorrow over the loss. The incident has sparked widespread concern and calls for increased public awareness and preventive measures in rural areas.
Health and safety officials have urged residents to avoid sleeping outdoors, seal gaps in homes, clear vegetation around living spaces, and educate children about the dangers of snake-infested areas.
The tragedy highlights the urgent need for improved rural healthcare access and emergency response systems in snake-prone regions of Yemen.
