UN Warns of Escalating Conflict in Yemen, Urges for Peaceful Resolution

The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, has sounded an alarm over the potential escalation of the Yemeni conflict into a full-scale war. Addressing the UN Security Council, Grundberg emphasized the critical need for peaceful dialogue as tensions between warring factions continue to mount.
The warning follows a rise in violent incidents, including drone strikes and shelling, in key regions like Ma’rib, Al Jawf, and Ta’iz.
Yemen remains gripped by one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. Funding shortfalls have left millions of Yemenis without sufficient access to food, healthcare, and basic services. Grundberg highlighted the disproportionate impact on women and children, with the country consistently ranking among the lowest in global gender equality indices.
In his address, Grundberg called on all parties involved to commit to open dialogue and urged international stakeholders to support efforts for a long-term political solution. He warned that failing to act swiftly could plunge the region into a renewed period of instability and suffering.
As Yemen stands on the brink of further devastation, the international community faces increasing pressure to intervene and facilitate a peaceful resolution.
