Two journalists from state-owned television channel Abu Dhabi TV were injured whilst covering the conflict in Yemen, state news agency WAM said.

Correspondent Saleh Ali and photojournalist Yasser Adnan sustained minor injuries when “their positions were targeted in Aden”, a statement said. Both journalists are now stable and are in Abu Dhabi to receive further medical care.

Despite the incident, Abu Dhabi Media Company officials said that the company’s “technical team” will remain on ground to provide coverage of the conflict in Yemen where a Saudi-led coalition of Gulf states are trying wrest control from rival Houthi group.

“Our technical crew will stay put to cover the latest developments and victories on the ground in line with the framework of the company’s directives to keep the public posted about humanitarian and military operations there,” said ADMC’s chairman and managing director Mohammed Al Mahmoud.

He added that the company will ensure the safety of its staff in Yemen.

“We are determined to maintain a professional line and exercise responsibilities towards the nation and society by conveying the truth and coverage of the achievements of the Arab coalition forces in Yemen,” Mahmoud said.

“We will continue to cover the role of the United Arab Emirates armed forces within the Arab coalition forces, led by Saudi Arabia, to restore legitimacy to Yemen.”

Although Gulf Arab countries have made substantial progress in Yemen with Aden under their control, the group has suffered casualties from various factions fighting in the country.

Earlier this year, more than 50 soldiers from the UAE, 10 from Saudi Arabia, five from Bahrain and four from Yemen were killed after a rocket was launched at an ammunition depot of the military brigade in Marib province of Yemen.

Militant group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant killed almost 22 people in another recent attack against the Gulf Arab coalition and Yemeni government. In four coordinated suicide-bombing attacks, the incident killed 11 Yemeni and four UAE soldiers among others.
