UAE Space Investments Surpass $12 Billion, Minister Confirms
Dubai — The United Arab Emirates has invested more than $12 billion in its rapidly expanding space sector, according to a statement by the Minister of State for Advanced Technology, underscoring the country’s ambition to become a regional leader in space exploration and innovation.
Speaking at the Global Space Forum in Abu Dhabi, the minister highlighted the UAE’s strategic commitment to space science, satellite development, and interplanetary missions. “Our investments now exceed $12 billion, reflecting our belief in the transformative power of space technologies for future generations,” he said.
The UAE’s space portfolio includes the successful launch of the Hope Probe to Mars, the development of advanced Earth observation satellites, and the establishment of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre. The country is also training its second cohort of astronauts and collaborating with international partners on lunar and deep space missions.
Officials say the investments span public and private sectors, with growing interest from startups and academic institutions. The UAE’s space strategy aims to diversify the national economy, enhance scientific research, and inspire youth to pursue careers in STEM fields.
The announcement comes amid rising global competition in space exploration, with the UAE positioning itself as a key player in the Arab world and beyond.
