Pentagon Affirms U.S.-Saudi Defense Partnership and Commitment to Regional Security

Washington, D.C. – February 24, 2025 – U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth met with Saudi Minister of Defense, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman, at the Pentagon to reaffirm the strong defense partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense ties, recognizing the relationship as a cornerstone of security and prosperity in the region. Secretary Hegseth reiterated President Donald Trump’s firm commitment to preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and working with allies to neutralize Houthi threats to regional security and global commerce.
The discussion covered a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global security priorities. Secretary Hegseth highlighted the importance of maintaining interoperability between U.S. and Saudi forces as a key investment in regional stability. The two officials agreed to remain in close coordination, with Secretary Hegseth accepting Prince Khalid bin Salman’s invitation to visit Saudi Arabia in the near future.
