Qatar Temporarily Shuts Airspace Amid Regional Escalation

Qatar temporarily closed its airspace on Monday, citing a need to protect citizens, residents, and visitors amid mounting regional tensions. The Persian Gulf nation is home to the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest U.S. military installation in the Middle East.
It is also a major transit hub, and the airspace closure could ripple across global flight and cargo schedules.
The move is part of a series of precautionary steps being taken in response to the evolving security situation in the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry said.
The government said it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with international and regional partners. Doha emphasized that ensuring safety within its territory remains a top priority and pledged to take any further measures necessary.
