Saudi-UN Cooperation to Help Yemenis with Independent Development Vision

Saudi Arabia and the UN confirmed on Sunday that they are working together to help the Yemeni people acquire an independent development vision capable to build the country and secure its stability.
Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, who is also the Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY), met with Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rola Dashti.
Following the meeting, Al Jaber stressed that the Saudi program is ready to work with ESCWA to achieve development in Yemen and build Yemeni institutional capabilities, in addition to transfer development expertise to Yemen cadres across the country.
The Saudi official said that SDRPY and ESCWA agree on many issues, mainly strengthening stability and building peace in Yemen.
Al Jaber explained that so far, the program has 70 projects implemented in seven main Yemeni sectors, in addition to the support to Yemen’s Central bank and the electricity institution.
“We will now work with ESCWA on placing a cooperation plan for technical support and building Yemeni capacities… Saudi Arabia had supported and continues to help development in Yemen and to back its economy.”
Dashti lauded the Kingdom’s development and humanitarian role in the region, mainly neighboring countries like Yemen.
She said the Saudi development role and support gives a clear message that it backs the stability of such countries.
Dashti also praised the Saudi development role and its efforts to move from the phase of relief and humanitarian aid to development and reconstruction.
