EU calls Houthi militia to stop death sentences of 4 Yemeni journalists

The EU Mission to Yemen Today, Monday, called on the Houthi militia to stop the death sentences against four journalists it had arrested in 2015.
The mission said that four Yemeni journalists are facing the death penalty because of their profession, calling at the same time to stop these sentences against them.
Last February, the International Federation of Journalists launched a campaign to rescue 4 Yemeni journalists detained by the "Houthis", who are at risk of death after being sentenced to death.

The Union sent a letter to the UN envoys Hans Grundberg and the American Tim Lenderking for Yemen; To put this issue on their agenda as an urgent matter.
The statement also added, explaining that "the four journalists have been subjected, since their arrest, to various types of physical and psychological torture and disappearance, and have been denied the right to visit."
He added, "They were also denied the right to obtain the necessary medical care, in flagrant violation of all international laws and norms related to the treatment of prisoners."
According to the statement, the journalists are Abdul-Khaleq Omran, Akram Al-Walidy, Harith Hamid and Tawfiq Al-Mansoori, who were arrested in June 2015 in Sana'a.
The Houthi militia practices repressive violations against journalists, arresting dozens and killing others.
