Yemen’s PLC President Returns to Aden with Senior Officials
Aden -- Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Chairman, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, has returned to the country’s interim capital Aden, accompanied by several senior government officials, in a move seen as part of renewed efforts to strengthen state institutions and oversee critical developments on the ground.
Local sources confirmed that Al-Alimi’s arrival marks his first visit to Aden in several weeks, following diplomatic engagements abroad and consultations with regional partners. He was joined by members of the Presidential Council and cabinet ministers, including officials from the ministries of defense, interior, and finance.
The delegation’s return comes amid heightened political and economic challenges, with the internationally recognized government seeking to reassert its presence and coordinate responses to inflation, public service disruptions, and security threats.
According to a brief statement from the Presidential Office, the visit aims to revitalize government operations, monitor service delivery, and engage with local authorities and civil society leaders. Al-Alimi is expected to hold a series of meetings focused on economic stabilization, military coordination, and preparations for upcoming peace initiatives.
Security was tightened across key areas of Aden ahead of the delegation’s arrival, with checkpoints reinforced and government buildings placed under heightened protection.
