US Embassy in Yemen Demands Release of Detained UN Staff by Houthis
Aden — The United States Embassy in Yemen has called for the immediate release of United Nations employees held by Houthi forces, condemning their continued detention as arbitrary and unacceptable.
In its statement, the embassy stressed that the safety and freedom of humanitarian workers are essential for the delivery of life-saving assistance across Yemen. It urged the Houthis to respect international humanitarian law and to end practices that obstruct relief operations and jeopardize the welfare of civilians.
The embassy reiterated Washington’s support for the United Nations and humanitarian agencies operating in Yemen, emphasizing that the detention of aid workers undermines global efforts to address one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
