Yemen : ACJ Urges UN to Replace Houthi Representatives in Muscat Negotiations
Muscat – The American Center for Justice on Saturday called for urgent UN intervention to compel the Houthi group to change its representatives in the Muscat negotiations on detainees and abductees, holding the participation of figures accused of serious violations responsible for undermining the humanitarian track of the talks.
In a statement, the center said it had addressed the UN Secretary-General, urging direct pressure on the Houthis internationally designated as a terrorist group to exclude the head of the Houthi Prisoner Affairs Committee, Abdulqader al-Murtada, and his deputy, Murad Qasim, from any negotiating role related to humanitarian files.
The statement warned that involving individuals accused of grave abuses in humanitarian negotiations raises serious concerns about the integrity of the process and threatens victims’ rights. It called on the United Nations to prioritize standards of justice and accountability in managing such sensitive files.
