Roadside bomb kills pro-gov't soldier, injures 9 in Yemen's Aden

A roadside bomb killed a pro-government soldier and wounded nine in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Saturday, a security official Said.
The bomb exploded near a two-vehicle convoy of the newly-recruited pro-government troops in Dar Sad district moving toward the northern parts of Aden Province, killing a 30-year-old soldier and injuring seven of his fellows, the official said on condition of anonymity.
Shrapnel also hurt two civilian passers-by, the official added.
Police authorities in Aden blamed the deadly incident on the insurgents of the Yemen-based al-Qaida branch, saying they seek to create unrest and destabilize the situation in the city.
Aden, where the Yemeni government has been based since 2015, witnesses sporadic security incidents despite the efforts of the newly-recruited security forces to contain them.
The Yemeni government, allied with the Saudi-led Arab military coalition, has been battling Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels for the control of the country for more than four years.
