United Arab Emirates State Minister for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said Saturday that his country supports Saudi Arabia in calling Yemeni parties to dialogue.
In a tweet, he added that Saudi Arabia is leading the Arab coalition with complete patience and competency.
The UAE had met the call to join Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen, which helped cement a firm regional partnership, he continued.
“The common challenges we are facing are in safe Saudi hands and we stand by its call for dialogue” as the UAE had stood by it in the past, Gargash said.
On Friday, Saudi Arabia stressed that it rejects strife between Yemeni parties in the interim capital, Aden, warning against any military escalation or side battles that can only benefit the Iran-backed Houthi militias and the ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorist groups.
It urged the warring parties to “immediately” join the dialogue it had called for in Jeddah.
Any attempt to destabilize Yemen is a threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom and region, it warned, vowing that it will take firm measures to deal with it.
It is also firm in stressing that there can be no substitute to the legitimate government in Yemen and it will reject attempts to impose a new reality in the war-torn country through the force of arms.
