Yemen's health authorities on Saturday confirmed three new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number in the country to 10 including two deaths.
Of the three new cases, two are in Aden and one in Taiz Province, according to Yemen's supreme national emergency committee for COVID-19.
On Tuesday, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande warned of a possible rapid spread of COVID-19 in the war-torn country, where a five-year civil war has severely shattered its healthcare system.
"The factors are all here: low levels of general immunity, high levels of acute vulnerability, and a fragile, overwhelmed health system," Grande said in a statement.
On April 10, Yemen's pro-government authorities recorded the first case of COVID-19 in the southeastern province of Hadramout.
The Yemeni war erupted in late 2014, when the Iran-backed Houthi rebels seized control of much of the country's north and forced the Saudi-backed government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa.
