A report published by the Civil Network for Human Rights ( Yemeni NGOS) based in Aden on Thursday said that 700 violations, including 443 cases of torture, occurred in Shabwa Special Forces prisons between January 2019 - June 2022. Around 443 violation cases of torture, including a child who was tortured.
The report accused the former governor of Shabwa, Muhammad Saleh bin Udayo, and the former commander of the Special Forces, Abed Rabbo Lakab al-Sharif, loyalists of the Islamic Reform Party, which is close to al-Qaeda in Yemen, of being behind the violations and torture that took place in Shabwa.
During the past years, the Islamic Reform Party (the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen) took control of the oil province of Shabwa in southern Yemen. During the period of their presence, Shabwa didn’t witness any attacks by al-Qaeda, while province currently is witnessing , the return of terrorist attacks of Al Qaeda again.
