Clashes between tribesmen, gov't forces in Yemen cause dozens of casualties: Houthi media

Dozens of people were killed or injured in clashes between tribesmen and government forces in the central province of Marib in Yemen, as reported by Houthi-run media on Monday.
The clashes erupted after a young man was shot dead by government soldiers at a checkpoint, according to a local source quoted by the Houthi-run Saba news agency, which did not reveal the exact timing of the incident.
The tribesmen of Al-Shabwan, one of the branches of Abidah tribes, then attacked the checkpoint, seizing control of it and killing a number of government forces.
The Abidah tribe, one of the largest and most influential tribes in Marib and eastern Yemen, holds control over the entire eastern region of the province, including the majority of Marib's oil and gas fields.
The Yemeni government has not commented on the incident. However, local media suggested that it occurred on Saturday and that government forces successfully identified and apprehended the tribesmen involved in the attack.
Tribes have historically held significant political influence in Yemen and continue to play a central role in Yemeni culture and society.
