The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced on Saturday that its air defenses shot down an armed drone fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards the Kingdom.
The projectile was aimed at Khamis Mushait, it added, stressing that all Houthi attempts to attack civilians and civilian locations have been thwarted.
The coalition had also intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and three armed drones that were launched by the militias towards Saudi Arabia’s Jazan and southern province.
The coalition accused the Houthis of deliberately targeting civilian region, stressing it was taking the necessary operational measures to protect them against such hostile attacks and to address such threats.
Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen condemned the Houthis for their ongoing attempts to attack civilians in Saudi Arabia, deeming them as war crimes.
He hailed the preparedness and vigilance of the Saudi defenses that managed to destroy the missile and drones before they reached their targets.
He expressed the OIC’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support to all the measures it takes to protect its security and stability and safety of its citizens and residents.
