GCC Chief in Aden to meet Yemeni president

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani arrived in Yemen's southern Aden City for a short official visit to meet with Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The GCC chief headed immediately to the Presidential Palace in Aden to hold talks with Hadi on the current volatile situation in Yemen, a local official told KUNA.
Tension has been running high in Yemen since Houthis seized control of Sanaa in September and sought to extend their influence to other provinces.
Having been put under house arrest by Houthis for several weeks, Hadi fled to Aden and declared that he was still the "legitimate president" of Yemen.
The GCC had welcomed the safe arrival of the Yemeni President to Aden as "an important step" to affirm the legitimacy of Yemeni leadership.
The GCC called in a statement on Houthi rebels to lift the house arrest imposed on the Yemeni prime minister and other politicians, and to set free other abductees.
The statement called on the Yemeni people and all political parties in Yemen to rally behind President Hadi and support his efforts and constitutional duties.
