UKMTO Reports Suspicious Maritime Activity Off Somali Coast
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has received a report of suspicious activity in the waters off the coast of Garacad, Somalia, approximately 106 nautical miles south of the city of Eyl.
According to UKMTO, local authorities responded to two suspiciously moving sailing vessels in the area. One of the vessels was intercepted and secured, while the second managed to evade capture and flee the scene.
UKMTO has advised vessels operating in the region to remain vigilant and report any unusual activity. The incident underscores ongoing maritime security concerns in the waters off Somalia, which have historically been prone to piracy and unauthorized vessel movements.
