Sana’a – The General Directorate for Drug Control at Yemen’s Ministry of Interior has announced the seizure of approximately 1,660 kilograms of narcotic substances during nationwide operations conducted between January and September 2025.

In an official statement, the authority confirmed that the confiscated drugs included hashish, crystal meth, heroin, and various psychotropic pills, intercepted across multiple governorates through coordinated raids, checkpoints, and intelligence-led investigations.

The eight-month campaign targeted trafficking networks and smuggling routes, particularly in border regions and areas experiencing security instability. Officials reported dozens of arrests linked to organized crime groups and individuals attempting to transport narcotics via land and sea corridors.

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and protecting public health, calling on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activities. It also highlighted the need for regional and international support to strengthen Yemen’s capacity to address transnational drug trafficking.

Security analysts warn that the country’s fragmented security landscape and porous borders continue to pose challenges to narcotics control, with some militant groups allegedly involved in drug trade to finance operations.
