Sana’a — A new report by Save the Children has revealed that 3,146 children in Yemen have been killed or injured as a result of explosive weapons incidents in populated areas, underscoring the devastating impact of the country’s protracted conflict on its youngest citizens.

The organization said the figures were documented across multiple governorates, highlighting the widespread danger posed by shelling, airstrikes, landmines, and other explosive devices in residential neighborhoods. 

The report stressed that children continue to bear the brunt of violence, often caught in attacks that destroy homes, schools, and public spaces.

Save the Children warned that the use of explosive weapons in populated areas violates international humanitarian law and places Yemen’s children at disproportionate risk. 

“No child should have to live under the constant threat of bombs and shells,” the organization stated, calling for stronger international action to protect civilians and hold perpetrators accountable.

Humanitarian observers note that the findings add to mounting evidence of the war’s toll on Yemen’s civilian population, where millions already face hunger, displacement, and lack of access to basic services. 

The report is expected to intensify calls for an end to hostilities and for renewed efforts to safeguard children in conflict zones.
