Masam Clears 874 Landmines in Yemen in November’s Third Week
Aden -- The Saudi-funded Masam Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen announced that its teams removed 874 landmines and explosive devices during the third week of November 2025, continuing efforts to protect civilians from the deadly legacy of war.
According to the project’s weekly update, the clearance operations covered several governorates, including Marib, Shabwa, and Aden, where landmines have posed a persistent threat to residents, farmers, and displaced families returning to their homes.
Masam confirmed that the cleared devices included anti-personnel mines, anti-vehicle mines, and unexploded ordnance, all planted by Houthi forces in residential areas, roads, and agricultural lands. The organization emphasized that the removal of these hazards is vital to restoring safe access to communities and enabling humanitarian aid delivery.
Since its launch in 2018, the Masam Project has reported the destruction of hundreds of thousands of mines and explosive remnants of war, saving countless lives and reducing risks for Yemen’s war-affected population.
