GCC Reaffirms Support for Political Solution in Yemen

Aden – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has renewed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the ongoing crisis in Yemen.
In a high-level meeting held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized the bloc’s unwavering support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and all initiatives promoting peace and stability in the country.
Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC’s endorsement of three key frameworks guiding the peace process: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216. These references, he stated, remain essential to preserving Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The meeting also addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, with the GCC pledging continued relief and development assistance. Plans are underway to host an international conference on food security in Yemen, aimed at coordinating global responses to the worsening crisis.
“The brotherly people of Yemen deserve peace, security, and prosperity,” said Albudaiwi. “We in the GCC are determined to support every initiative that promotes stability and sustainable development in Yemen”.
The renewed diplomatic push comes amid ongoing efforts by the United Nations and regional actors, including Saudi Arabia and Oman, to mediate between the Yemeni government and the Houthi movement. Observers view the GCC’s stance as a critical pillar in the broader international effort to end the conflict and restore lasting peace.
