UAE Welcomes Muscat Agreement on Prisoner Exchange in Yemen
AbuDhabi -- The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the agreement signed in Muscat, Oman, on the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, describing it as an important humanitarian step that will help alleviate suffering and strengthen efforts to support stability in Yemen and the wider region.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in hosting and facilitating the negotiations, as well as the cooperation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The ministry also highlighted the significant role played by the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching the agreement.
The UAE emphasized that this humanitarian accord represents a step toward building trust among the parties and creating conditions conducive to peace.
The ministry reaffirmed the country’s steadfast support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the crisis, alleviates the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, and fulfills their legitimate aspirations for security, stability, and development.
