Yemen : Injures Rises to 8 in Drone Attack on Ramon Airport
Israeli media reported on Sunday evening that the number of people injured has risen to eight following the crash of a drone launched from Yemen, which directly struck the passenger terminal at Ramon Airport in southern Israel.
According to the Israeli military, the drone—believed to be operated by the Houthi group—entered Israeli airspace undetected and unchallenged, resulting in injuries ranging from minor wounds to panic-induced trauma among travelers. The injured were transferred to Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat for treatment.
The attack prompted a temporary shutdown of the airport and suspension of flights, while sirens sounded across several areas in the Negev, including Nitzana and Be’er Milka, amid fears of further threats. The Israel Airports Authority later confirmed that operations resumed after comprehensive security checks.
Eilat’s mayor described the incident as “deeply troubling,” noting the absence of prior warning and raising questions about the effectiveness of air defense systems. The Israeli Air Force has launched an immediate investigation into the failure to detect the drone.
The strike comes amid rising regional tensions, with the Houthis vowing to escalate operations against Israeli targets in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
