Yemen’s PLC President Urges Unity on 58th Independence Anniversary
Aden -- On Saturday evening, Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, issued a statement marking the 58th anniversary of Yemen’s Independence Day (November 30, 1967).
In his address, al-Alimi called on Yemenis to strengthen national unity, support state institutions, and avoid politicizing just causes, stressing that solidarity is essential to overcoming the country’s ongoing challenges.
Al-Alimi highlighted the sacrifices made by Yemenis in their struggle for independence from British colonial rule in the south, noting that the anniversary serves as a reminder of the importance of collective action and national resilience. He urged citizens to rally behind legitimate institutions and to resist divisions that weaken the state’s ability to confront current crises.
The statement also underscored the need to protect Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to pursuing peace and restoring order across the country. Al-Alimi emphasized that unity among Yemenis is the cornerstone for achieving justice, development, and a sustainable future.
