Yemen’s “Shield of the Nation” Forces Foil Attempt to Plant Explosive Devices on Key International Highway
Marib -- Yemen’s Shield of the Nation Forces announced that they successfully thwarted an attempt to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the international highway linking Marib, Al-Abr, and Al-Wadi‘ah, a strategic route used for commercial and civilian traffic.
In a statement, the forces confirmed that their units detected and dismantled the explosives before they could be activated, preventing what could have been a major threat to travelers and trade convoys.
The operation underscores the ongoing security challenges in Yemen, where armed groups continue to target vital infrastructure and transport routes. Officials emphasized that securing the Marib–Al-Abr–Al-Wadi‘ah corridor remains a priority, given its importance as a lifeline for movement between central Yemen and the Saudi border crossing at Al-Wadi‘ah.
This latest success highlights the role of the Shield of the Nation Forces in countering insurgent tactics and maintaining stability across Yemen’s critical highways.
