Arab League Council Reaffirms Support for Yemen’s Unity and Stability
Aden — The Council of the League of Arab States has reiterated its full support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of the Republic of Yemen, rejecting any form of external interference in the country’s internal affairs.
The statement came during the 164th regular ministerial session held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo, attended by foreign ministers and senior delegates from member states.
In its official resolution, the Council emphasized its backing for the internationally recognized Yemeni government, led by the Presidential Leadership Council under Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi. It praised the government’s commitment to peace and its constructive engagement with international initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and restoring state institutions.
“The Arab League stands firmly behind Yemen’s territorial integrity and the legitimate efforts to achieve lasting peace,” said Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, calling on all parties to prioritize national interest and dialogue.
The Council also expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation, urging member states and the international community to intensify aid efforts to address food shortages, medical supply gaps, and the broader impact of the global food crisis on Yemen.
Additionally, the resolution condemned the actions of the Houthi militia, calling on the group to cease its violations and respond positively to peace proposals.
The Council reaffirmed its support for the United Nations roadmap and stressed the importance of coordinated regional efforts to stabilize Yemen and promote reconstruction and development.
