Yemen : Three Children Die of Asphyxiation Inside Abandoned Vehicle in Lahj; Fourth Child Survives
Lahj — Security authorities in Lahj Governorate have confirmed the tragic deaths of three children, aged between 3 and 7 years, who suffocated inside an abandoned vehicle that had been out of service for an extended period. A fourth child, aged 6, was found alive and is currently receiving medical attention.
According to the official statement, the children entered the disabled vehicle while playing nearby, unaware of the danger it posed. Investigations revealed that the car’s doors could only be opened from the outside due to damaged internal handles, making it impossible for the children to escape or call for help once inside.
The incident has sparked widespread grief and concern among local residents, with calls for increased safety measures around neglected vehicles and public spaces. Authorities have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any hazardous or abandoned structures that may pose risks to children.
Security officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have reiterated their commitment to preventing similar tragedies in the future.
