Yemen : Security Battalion at Al-Wadi’ah Border Foils Attempt to Smuggle 25 Kilograms of Drugs
Hadhramaut -- The Security and Protection Battalion stationed at the Al-Wadi’ah border crossing has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 25 kilograms of hashish during a routine inspection.
The operation took place at the Souq checkpoint, which is under the battalion’s control, following a thorough and precise search of vehicles and cargo.
According to official sources, the contraband was discovered concealed inside a transport vehicle attempting to cross the border. The battalion immediately seized the narcotics and detained those involved, referring them to the competent authorities for further investigation.
Security officials emphasized that the interception reflects the battalion’s heightened vigilance and commitment to combating drug trafficking, particularly at strategic border points. They noted that the Al-Wadi’ah crossing remains a critical gateway between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, making it a frequent target for smuggling operations.
Authorities reaffirmed their determination to protect the border and prevent the infiltration of narcotics and other contraband, stressing that such operations are part of broader efforts to safeguard public health and national security.
