Aden -- The Yemeni satellite channel Belqees TV, known for its affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood and its critical coverage of developments in Yemen, has officially announced the closure of its operations in Turkey.
Belqees TV, which was launched in 2014 and broadcast from Istanbul, had positioned itself as a platform for opposition voices against the Houthi movement and other political actors in Yemen. Over the years, the channel became a prominent outlet for Yemeni audiences abroad, offering political talk shows, news bulletins, and coverage of humanitarian issues.
According to media sources, the decision to shut down was linked to financial difficulties and mounting political pressures, as regional dynamics shifted and Turkey reassessed its hosting of partisan media outlets. The closure marks the end of a decade-long presence of Belqees TV in the Yemeni media landscape.
The closure of Belqees TV is expected to leave a gap in the media space for Yemeni audiences who relied on its coverage of political and humanitarian developments.
The channel’s management has not yet confirmed whether Belqees TV will attempt to resume broadcasting from another location or transition to digital-only platforms.
