Aden -- The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced efforts to mobilize more than $260 million to finance its Emergency, Resilience, and Development Plan for Yemen (2025–2027).

The initiative aims to provide urgent agricultural assistance and long-term recovery programs to support approximately 1.34 million households—equivalent to 9.3 million people across the country.

According to FAO, the three-year plan is designed to strengthen Yemen’s food security and livelihoods through:

- Emergency agricultural aid, including seeds, tools, and livestock support for vulnerable farming families.

- Recovery programs to help communities rebuild agricultural production disrupted by years of conflict and climate shocks.

- Resilience-building initiatives, such as training, infrastructure rehabilitation, and sustainable resource management, to reduce dependence on humanitarian aid.

FAO emphasized that Yemen remains one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with millions at risk of hunger and malnutrition. By combining immediate relief with long-term development, the organization hopes to stabilize rural communities, protect livelihoods, and enhance resilience against future shocks.

The plan also underscores FAO’s commitment to working alongside local authorities, international donors, and humanitarian partners to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need. Officials stressed that securing the required funding will be critical to preventing further deterioration of Yemen’s fragile food systems.
