Human rights sources in Ibb governorate, central Yemen, reported the death of a citizen, days after he was kidnapped by the Houthi militia.
The sources said that the citizen, Atef Jamal, died in a prison of the Houthi militia in the Al-Mashnah district, 3 days after his arrest and malicious charges.
She explained that the citizen from the Qurayyat area on the outskirts of the city of Ibb was detained in a prison in the Al-Mashnah district, and his family members were informed of his sudden death.
According to human rights sources, Atef was subjected to brutal torture from the first hours of his imprisonment, which led to his death after 3 days of detention, and his body was transferred to the refrigerator of the Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Ibb.
The human rights and media activist Ibrahim Esqin published tweets on his page on the "X" website, in which he explained that the Houthi militia had informed Atef's family of his death. And that the cause of death was suicide.
Esqin indicated that the victim's mother went to the maternity hospital, and they prevented her from seeing him or taking him, indicating that they asked the victim's mother to write a waiver in return for taking her son's body and burying him directly.
Esqin quoted prisoners who were with the young man, Atef Jamal, in Al-Mishnah prison, assuring that he "was beaten to death because of his refusal to arrest him and that he was innocent of the charges against him that he was dealing in hashish."
