Yemen’s STC Forces Repel Houthi Attack in Lahj’s Kirsh Front
Lahj – Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces announced late Saturday that they successfully repelled an assault launched by Iran backed Houthi militias on the Kirsh front in Lahj governorate, while simultaneously carrying out a targeted military operation against rebel positions.
Military spokesman for the Southern Armed Forces, Lt. Col. Mohammed Al‑Naqeeb, said in a briefing posted on his official account on X and monitored by Nafidhat Yemen, that units stationed in the Hamala axis northwest of Kirsh intercepted a Houthi infiltration attempt on Saturday evening.
Al‑Naqeeb confirmed that the attempt ended in “complete failure” due to the vigilance and high combat readiness of the 13th Saeqa Brigade. He added that several Houthi fighters were killed and wounded during the clash.
The spokesman stressed that the Southern Armed Forces remain on full alert across the frontlines, prepared to counter further hostile actions and safeguard liberated areas in Lahj.
