Yemen's Houthis Turn Kamaran Island Into a "Closed Prison" After US Airstrikes

Following recent US airstrikes, Houthi militias have imposed strict restrictions on the residents of Kamaran Island, located northwest of Al Hudaydah province.
According to the Yemeni government, the island has been transformed into a "closed prison," with locals prevented from leaving or communicating with the outside world after all means of communication were cut off.
Yemeni sources report that the Houthis have detained dozens of island residents, accusing them of "collaborating with foreign entities," referring to the United States.
This follows a series of US airstrikes targeting Houthi positions around the island, with over 80 strikes carried out in recent days.
Kamaran Island is one of Yemen's most strategically significant islands in the Red Sea, located near international shipping lanes.
Reports indicate that these newly imposed restrictions may worsen the humanitarian situation for its residents, who already face challenging conditions due to Yemen’s prolonged crisis.
