Yemeni Artist Sells Paintings to Pay Overdue Rent
Sana’a — Renowned Yemeni painter Adnan Juman has revealed a dire living crisis threatening his family’s stability, after receiving notice to vacate his rented apartment from the Hael Saeed family following more than 23 years of residence.
The eviction order comes as a result of unpaid rent accumulated under the weight of Yemen’s ongoing war and economic collapse.
In a heartfelt statement, Juman , who resides in Houthi-controlled Sana’a, described the debts as the price of a war in which he has “no stake whatsoever.”
Facing this burden, he announced the difficult decision to put up for sale a collection of his most cherished artworks at affordable prices, hoping to settle his financial obligations before the one-month deadline, which coincides with the holy month of Ramadan.
The artist extended an appeal to art lovers and supporters to contact him directly to view and acquire his works, turning his brush into a final lifeline to shield his family from homelessness and preserve the dignity of Yemeni creativity under harsh conditions.
